CCS5.2 with Signum JtagJet TMS

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F2812

We have installed a CCS 5.2 and have a 90 day Evaluation license.

We are trying to connect to an existing hardware using a Signum JtagJet TMS with the latest drivers from Signum.

When trying to connect we get an error message

C28xx: Error connecting to the target: Error 0x80000240/-171 Fatal Error during: Initialization, OCS,

Do we need a full license ?

Best regards Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

yes, you do need a full license for that hardware, however a trial license (90 day evaluation) is a type of full licence.  Also this is not an error related to licensing at all.

What exact CCS version are you using?  What OS?  Have you double checked Signum support?

Are there any further details you could provide?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • We use the Code Composer Studio  Version: 5.2.1.00018and the latest Signum driver available on their homepage.

    We use a Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64-bit SP1; Intel Core i7 3770 @ 3.40GHz;

When we run the EMUDIAG from Signum there are no errors and everything looks fine. In the target config window we select

the Signum JTAGjet Emulator and then the TMS320F2812 as our target cpu. The test connection button is greyed out. We can not test

the connection. Should this button be active? The advanced option are left at default values.

    Any hints?

  • Hi Thomas,

do you have the version for the C2000 of Signums emulators?

    http://www.signum.com/Signum.htm?p=jtagjet.htm

There is a specific version for the C2000 .  When you create a target configuration, if you select your jtagjet emulator as the connection type, is your F28x part listed?

Have you used other boards/parts succesfully so far?

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa,

we have been using this Signum Jtag with the CCS Version 3.3 and it works fine.

With the emudiag.exe we can see  a device IR=38, ID=0X30F3D89

which looks very familiar. Therefore the Signum JTAG seems to work.

Why do i not get the test connection button?

    best regards

    Thomas

  • Are you using the drivers for CCSv5 that is dated June 1, 2012?

If you are asking about the button in the Signum EmuDiag utility, you will have to get Signum to answer that.

I downloaded the drivers dated June 1, 2012 and was able to connect to my 2812 with my Signum JTAGJet, I was also able to test my connection with the EmuDiag utility.

While you wait for Signum support, you can try generating a debug server log, zip it up and attach it here so we can analyze the issue:

    Thanks

  • Hello Ki,

now we have been able to connect to the target HW once. The people from Signum told us that we have to disconnect the target power

before we can reconnect. Signum is working with you on this problem.

So far we can work with the CCS5-2. Not ideal but ok for the moment.

    Thanks for your time

    Thomas

  • Thanks for the update.

I assume this means they will update their drivers. Great.

  • Hey,

how did you get the emulator to connect to the hardware?

I've been stuck with the same problem and can't connect to the hardware at all.

If I use in CCSv5 Debug view the connect to Target menu option i get the Error:

    ERROR: Ret JSC_Connect

    can you please help me?

  • Hi,

I have had the same problem. There is a workaraound for this.

The connect only works once. The second time it will not connect. To be able to get it connected you have to power off the target and turn on

the target power again. Now you have one more connect possible.

Signum and TI are working on this so i hope.

  • Hey,

thanks a lot for the help! However my problem was a little different. The connection was never possible because the power-supply was dying while I tried to connect to the target. Hence the power LED was correctly illuminated but the emulator could not connect.

After I replaced the power supply of the board the connection is possible as you say.

    thanks
