Unrecognised product of type com.ti.rtsc.xdais is required by project

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSBIOS

ON WINDOWS 8 64-BIT!

On importing the blinking LED project for the F2802x ControlStick into CCS V5.3.0.00090 (or any other project) the project appears to be imported but then an error with the details:

"Unrecognised product of type com.ti.rtsc.xdais is required by project "projectName". Please install at least one product of this type before building this project".

A) What does this mean?

B)  How do I fix it?

The ControlStick itself seems to be working with the system correctly, the drivers in device manager tell me everything is OK there, so guessing it means some S/W package isnt where it needs to be...

When I installed CCS (this version from fresh) the wiki page for Win 8 install said there may be install issues with a particular package, and outlined steps to remedy it, which I did follow and everything about the install ran OK... but the wiki mentioned nothing about CCS having any operational issues on Win 8 so dont know if its that...

Thank you

  • Hi Toby,

could you please verify you have BIOS installed?  This is under Window->Preference->Code COmposer Studio->RTSC->Products.

Do you see BIOS and XDC tools installed?  Could you send a screen capture?

I suspect that either BIOS support is not there or the project is perhaps not configured properly.  Ie there are RTSC CCS projects and CCS projects ...

    Best REgards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

BIOS and XDC tools do not appear to be listed in that window.

I probably unchecked the BIOS install during CCS install as I dont usually use BIOS (AFAIK), but dont think I would have unchecked XDC.

What is the best way of rectifying this? can I download and install these components individually?

    Thanks

  • Hi Toby,

yes you can install BIOS separately by following the link on this wiki.  In the same place you just sent the screen capture of, you can then point CCS to it/verify after installation.

    Please keep us informed.

  • Hi Lisa,

Thanks for your help so far. However I have downloaded and attempted to install this package you kinked to but it wanted me that the XDCROOT variable was not st and that I should install XDC Tools first.

So I downloaded and installed the XDC Tools (http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/rtsc/index.html) which ran OK, however when I now try to install BIOS I still get the same warning!

Will I need to create the XDCROOT variable manually somehow? Or is there more packages I need to install first?

    Thanks

  • Hi Toby,

where did you install the BIOS/XDC packages to? (ie what directory)  What shows in that RTSC->products tab now?  Do the packages appear there and if so, do they show any exclamation marks/warnings/problems?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

I let the installer put the package in the default directory (i.e. C:\ti\xdctools_3_24_05_48 )

The xdc tools package appears in the products tab now under discovered tools, no warning marks etc and the install appeared to go OK.

  • Hi Toby,

ok, good next step.  Now we need to install BIOS the same way and have it appear there as well.  Please give that a try and hopefully that should get you up and running.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

When I try to install BIOS, this is when I get the error about the XDCROOT variable, which says I cannot properly install BIOS without it...

The exact text of the error message follows below:

    XDCROOT environment variable check

    ===== Warning =====
The SYS/BIOS 6.34.04.22 installation could not finr the XDCROOT environment variable. XDCROTT is set by the XDC Tools installation.

It is recommended that you cancel th einstllation and install XDC Tools prior to installing SYS BIOS. XDCROOT is needed to set the shortcut for documentation in the
start menu. Click "OK" and then select "Cancel" to exit the installation. If you choose to continue, the SYS/BIOS 6.34.04.22 installation will be successfull but no SYS
BIOS API documentation shortcut will be created.

  • Hi Toby,

please try this version.  I wonder if you hit a patch instead of full version and keep us informed.

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

I will try that and let you know how it works out.

The one I previously downloaded came from the link for the most recent version on the page at the following link

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/bios/sysbios/index.html

    Thanks

  • Hi Lisa

This installer also gives the exact same error ... :(

  • Hi Toby,

I am going to see if I can loop in some colleagues here as BIOS really should not be hard to install. A few thoughts to try

    - have you double checked antivirus and any permissions issues/interference?

    - have you tried adding BIOS support by rerunning the installer into the same directory?

    Best Regards,
    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

    Thanks.

    - I did have trouble from the real time file shield in Avast the first time I tried to install XDC and the install failed so I have disabled the shield for now and there seems to have been no further issues... though I wouldnt rule it out, so I have kept trying with turning various security settings off etc

    - Ah Ha!! Installing XDCTools into the same directory it was already installed in then retrying BIOS worked!! (with the new BIOS pkg! 6.34.04.22)

There may have been some file shield sand-boxing or something along those lines still going on the first time around

However... when I now attempt to import the BlinkingLED project I still get the message about XDAIS being required....

Whats more BIOS does not seem to be showing in the RTSC Products window, the window still only contains the XDC tools as before...

Again thanks for the help you are giving on this, it is appreciated!

  • Hi Lisa

adjustment to my previous post, BIOS DOES show in the RTSC products window, I needed to restart CCS..

However, I still do get the warning about XDAIS when importing example projects...

  • Hi Toby,

ok, we have been unable to reproduce this or understand why the examples might have this dependancy.

However, can you please try installing XDIAS at least 7.21.

If you happen to have a version already installed you will have an xdias folder in your ccs root installation folder.

You can also try to download and install it from

    http://software-dl.ti.com/dsps/dsps_public_sw/sdo_sb/targetcontent/xdais/index.html

    Please keep us informed.

    Best Regards,

    Lisa

  • Hi Lisa

I've downloaded nd installed XDIAS tools as per previous post, Blinking LED now imports and builds correctly! (though I did need to change the compiler version in project properties from 5.2.2 to 6.10)

Many thanks for your help! :)

  • Hi Toby,

great, very glad to hear and all the best with development.

    Best Regards,
