Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator in virtualbox ubuntu

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AM3352

Hello

i try to make a new Target Configuration File under csv5 for my Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator but in thee Connection drop-down box i have not the choice for "Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator"

as mentionned in the following link  :

http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Sitara_Linux_Training:_uboot_linux_debug_with_ccsv5

I have only Data Snapshot Viewer choice.

I validated the TI XDS100 USB filter in virtual box configuration.

I also have Code Studio V5 installed on windows for MSP430 project

1) must the ARM board target be connected to XDS100v2 USB Emulator to have the choice appear ?

2) must i install some drivers under the virtual box ? Is it the installation of another CSV5 under windows that may make the problem ?

Thanks

Best regards

  • Moving this to the CCS forum.

  • Hello,

i have noticed that when installing CCSV5 (in http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Code_Composer_Studio_v5_Users_Guide)one can choose  the Emulators used (XDS100 for example). In my case i use a virtual box with CCSV5 already installed in it.

How can i add the XDS100 JTAG Emulator Support to my CCSV5 to have "Texas Instruments XDS100v2 USB Emulator"  choice in the  Connection drop-down box  for the Target Connection View ?

    Thanks

    Regards

I think you did not install emulation support in the virtual box. Check:

    1) No. The target configuration options are defined during CCS install.

    2) Yes. According to this article, you need to have device drivers on the guest operating system (Ubuntu in your case), but the drivers on the host operating system (Windows in your case) are unnecessary. Therefore you must install CCS and select the desired emulation support (XDS100) to properly install the device drivers.

All that said, keep in mind that XDS100 performance over Virtual machines is severely impacted. Check section 2 of this page:

    Hope this helps,

  • Hello,

thank a lot for taking time to answer me.

So i re-install CCSV5 under windows7 to have support  for ARM335x and XDS100v2 USB JTAG Emulator.

I can make a project "helloworld" and built it.

But my real goal is to program NAND flash with a uboot for my AM3352 board. Do you have any idea of how i can load u-boot in NAND from CCSV5 ?

    berst regards

  • Hello,

    i re-install CCSV5 5.5.0.00077.

When i create a new project for ARM AM3352, in the connection combo box there is no choice for the Blackawk XDS100v2 Jtag (see description at http://www.blackhawk-dsp.com/products/USB100v2ARM.aspx).

How can i do to connect to my AM3352 board ?

Is "TI XDS100v2 USB emulator" choice compatible ? (i will make a custom cable from the ARM20 pin-out of XDS100 to my board).

    Thanks

    Best regards
