Do TI developers talk to each other? (Install Folders)

So, I have used several products from TI over the years, CCSv3, CCSv6, Wireless Configurator, Various emulators with their code support...

Each time I go to install some program or support files I seem to get a different root folder.

For CCSv6, it is \TI\CCSv6.

For the wireless Configurator, it wanted to use \Program Files\Texas Instruments\blah\blah\blah

For the CCSv3, I think it wanted \Texas Instruments\...

Its horrible.

It seems there is no continuity amongst the developers. Some want to use Program Files folder (probably a bad idea as Windows seems to have issues with this folder,) Some want to spell out Texas Instruments, others want to abbreviate to TI, etc.

I note the same problems in the Windows registry.

Some installations behave properly and make registry entries in a non protected part, others, Like CCSv6, wants to use a section of the registry that requires administrator privileges. In my opinion, the registry should be avoided altogether, but, I'm just a programmer, what do I know.

What's up with all the non standardization. Are there no managers to take control of this problem?

Different locations? I'll tell even more: some time ago there was a discussion that there is hardcoded variable for TI root, which always points to c:\ti regardless of real installation path.

We do talk to each other, but admittedly we all have different procedures on how we package our software. The lack of consistency is becoming a big issue and we have concrete plans to address this with a new big initiative to make our software packages more consistent across the different TI groups. This is not just installation locations but also how they are bundled, look and feel, and more.
