CCS 7.0.0.00033 crashes when attempt to start Statistical Function Profiling on a MSP-EXP432P401R

With CCS 7.0.0.00033 under Windows 7 was attempting to use Statistical Function Profiling to debug a program on a MSP-EXP432P401R which was suffering a Usage Fault before reaching main. The XDS110 JTAG / SWD / cJTAG mode was was to "SWD - Mode - Aux COM port is target TDO".

After starting a debug session, with the program halted at the reset vector, selected Tools -> Hardware Trace Analyzer -> Statistical Function Profiling and selected Start using the defaults (Transport Type of SWO Trace and Sampling Interval1024 Cycles). On attempting to Start the Statistical Function Profiling CCS crashes with Windows displaying the following:

The crash has occurred on 3 out of 3 attempts.

The crash dump files for the 3 occurrences of the crash are attached. WERE12D.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.zip WER99A1.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.zip WERD53A.tmp.WERInternalMetadata.zip

Hi Chester,
Thanks for the logs. I will get them analyzed.

I did try this out on my end using the same build and target. I am able to get statistical profiling to work fine however. It may be something specific to your environment. On the flip side, I get issues where when i try to access the Hardware Trace Analyzer menu items,, CCS locks up for a few seconds. Have you seen this behavior also?

Yes, I have also noticed CCS 7 freeze for a few seconds when try and access the Hardware Trace Analyzer menu items.

Update - the various stability issues with Trace Analyzer will be fixed with the upcoming CCSv7.1.0 update (March 2017). The bug tracking ID for this issue is: CCDSK-2431

As part of the investigation intoCCS/TM4C1294NCPDT: CCS 6.2.0.00050 crashes when terminate a debug session which has used the hardware trace analyzer on a TM4C1294NCPDT connected with a XDS110 I received a TI Emulators 6.0.560.0 patch, which also stopped CCS 7.0.0.00042 from crashing when using the Hardware Trace Analyzer.
