I recently acquired a ZOOM AM1808 eXperimenter Kit from LogicPD and I'm having lots of difficulties. The system was a loaner and it came to me with all flash memory completely erased. Rather than returning it and getting a fully functional kit I thought i would configure it up my self since all the firmware components seemed to be in the kit. But the documentation is terrible: broken web links, incorrect instructions, and lack of configuration instructions for the AM1808.

I'll start with my first problem I encountered. I installed CCS (Version: 4.1.3.00038) from the CD. When I plugged in the XDS100 V2 JTAG device (Blackhawk USB100V2), Windows has a problem finding the device driver for it.

I'm running Windows XP SP3.

Can anyone tell me how to overcome this problem?

Carl,

I saw a similar issue a while ago and, although the screen wasn't exactly like the one you showed above, it was caused by a problem with the VID/PID of XDS100v2 emulators that newer releases of CCS uncovered.

You may be on to something. The troubleshooting guide says that the VID/PID must be 0403/A610, but mine is 0403/A6D0.

I'll check with LogicPD.

Carl,

Check the question 5.1.2 of the same page for details on reprogramming the VID/PID of the XDS100v2.

Also, since you are using ARM9 processors you may want to check question 6.4.11.

I jumped the gun a bit. The VID/PID is actually correct for my device. I was incorrectly looking at an example of a device driver with the wrong VID/PID on the page you referenced.

According to http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS100#Q:_What_should_the_USB_device.27s_UID_.28VID.2FPID.29_be.3F my VID/PID is correct.

Q: What should the USB device's UID (VID/PID) be?

A: The EEPROM needs to be programmed for a VID=0403 PID=A6D0. The device name string should be, “Texas Instruments Inc.XDS100 Ver 2.0”.

Any other ideas?

Problem seems to be isolated to my workstation. The drivers installed fine on another PC. The device runs fine on that PC.
