CCS/XDS560TRACE: No drivers for XDS560 in Uniflash4.0

Part Number: XDS560TRACE
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UNIFLASH

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I cannot find any drivers for the XDS560 in Uniflash4.0. Is there a new release coming?

Thanks,

Pat

  • Pat,

What your product exactly is? The reason of my question is that XDS560TRACE is a discontinued product. Its support has been dropped years ago.

If you mean one of the newer XDS560v2 Debug Probes, then its integration is still pending a few additional details.

    Regards,
    Rafael
  • Yes, it is the V2 but that did not appear to be one of the selection choices. Any idea when the support / driver will be available?
    Thanks,
    Pat
  • Pat,

I heard from the engineering team that the infrastructure is in place to acknowledge the XDS560v2 JTAG debug probes. However, the additional support files were never added to Uniflash.

The general idea is the following:
    1. Add the necessary files for the device/connection type you want to add into the UniFlash ccs_base folder (<installDir>\deskdb\content\TICloudAgent\win\ccs_base\ for Windows).
    2. Start UniFlash, click on Settings, and click on 'Re-sync Database'. This will add the new files into the database, and when UniFlash is restarted, the new device/connection will appear in the GUI.

Now, the difficult step is getting the files, in this case the XDS560 files. This comes from an installer that TI Emulation provides, but we don't provide a package that customers can easily access.

The installer for the TI Emulation files is easily found at:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/XDS_Emulation_Software_Package

When running its installer, it should point to the directory C:\ti\uniflash_4.2.1\deskdb\content\TICloudAgent\win

However, finding the installer for the base OS device XDS560v2 drivers for Blackhawk and Spectrum Digital is a bit trickier, as they don't have these available online.

To workaround this, you need to download the offline installer for CCS, extract the package that matches your brand of XDS560v2 (BH or SD) and run its installer.

This is incidentally described in sections 5 and 6 of the page below:

    http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Enterprise_distribution

This complicated procedure is necessary as we (TI) do not control the distribution of drivers from third party manufacturers.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
