unlocking the workspace

I had a crash in CCS4.  I closed it thru task manager.  Now when I try to run it, my workspace is locked (in use).  How do I unlock the workspace so that I can again work with my project?

Thanks,

Brad Mularcik

  • Brad,

Unfortunately this issue exists in Eclipse and apparently there is not easy workaround. Please check:

    https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=78582

In the discussion above some people managed to unlock by simply deleting the file .lock under the directory .metadata in your workspace.

However, others couldn't do this way due to a process using this particular file - I suggest you to close CCSv4, kill <javaw.exe> in the task manager (if it is running) and try to delete the file. If the file is still in use another process is using it - then I would use an utility like Process Explorer to investigate further.

Another person mentioned that a workaround was to copy the workspace with a different name to a different directory.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
