Several Usb-To-Gpio adapater on same PC

Hello,

I have made a small tools using Usb-To-Gpio adapter.

But I want to use two (or more) Usb-To-Gpio adapters on the same computer.

Is there a way to select wich adapter I want to talk with ?

Regards

Stephane

  • Hi,

What I mean is that vb.net dll (USB Adapter Driver.dll) provides : targetAttached(), register(), unregister()  without parameter.

I don't know if there is device list and how to connect to the second adapter for example.

  • Hi,

Is there still someone taking care about "USB Adapter Driver.dll" ?

    Stephane

  • Hello Stephane,

The software of USB-TO-GPIO was not developed to support multiple units plugged in. I am sorry about that.

Please let me know if I may assist you further.

    Thanks.

  • Hello Talal,

    Thank you for your reply.

It's a pity that these times it's not possible to connect several devices on the same PC on USB.

I also saw that after each frame sent with the GUI or my own application that  microsoft windows handle count is always increased.
It looks that handle are never closed.
I made a log application using usb-to-gpio and the .net dll with a lot of frame reading and after some hours it always crash.
Then I'm asking me is it due to too munch handles ?

Is Usb-To-Gpio driver still supported ?

    Regards
    Stephane

  • Hello Stephane,

Software and hardware for USB-TO-GPIO are still supported. After how many accesses the crash occurs?

    Thank you,

    Talal ITani

  • Hello Talal Itani,

I don't remember, but it usually crash over the night.

I'm sending 410 frames then wait 1 second and repeat again.
Let say I take 2 seconds to send all 410 frames, then wait 1 second, and this for 8 hours ...
    => (410*60*60*8) / 3 => 3.936.000 frames

Was tested on Windows XP SP3 32 bits.

If I wait 10s second between each loop, then it crash later.

My test software is in C#, I tried to clear the garbage bean and do other stuff but I still have the same trouble.
If shutdown my test software and launch it again, then everything is fine again until next crash.

The only thing I saw is that windows handles are not cleared, that why I focus on this.
Is it this or something in my software, I don't know.
But when you send a frame with the DLL, can be Texas GUI or my test software, looks that handles are never closed.

    Regards
    Stephane

  • Hello Stephane,

Where did you get the USB-TO-GPIO software from?

    Thanks,

    Talal

  • Hi Talal,

I think I received them from Farnell (don't remember, Sales department order them).
I also receive one from Texas directly.

    I reflash all with : v1.0.10 firmware.

    USB Adapter Driver.dll : v1.0.0.0

    Regards

  • Talal

Are you trying to find the firmware that converts the USB-to-GPIO adapter to support BMS EVMs? I attached it to this entry.
    Tom

  • Hello Tom,

I was not trying to find that.

  • Hello Talal,

I have also another issue with USB-TO-GPIO and FTDI UMFT230XB chip when they are both plug on the same USB hub.
I lose FTDI serial COM port.

    Example:
    1) open FTDI com port and communicate
    2) open USB-TO-GPIO and communicate
    3) after some times (variable, 1minute, 5minutes,.. ), I have no more communication with FDTI com port, disconnect it and not able to connect again.

If I plug USB-TO-GPIO and FTDI UMFT230XB on different hub, then everything ok.
Tried with windows xp sp3 32bits.

I don't know who is making this issue, it's just for your information.

    Regards
    Stephane
