how to insert the downloaded model into the Tina-Ti labrary

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54218, TINA-TI

Hi.!

I have down loaded the tina ave model of TPS54218, because only transient model was included in built -in library.

how can I insert this down loaded one to the tina-ti library ?

regards

Bishnu

  • There are six models in the product folder; pspice avg and transient, TINA-TI avg and transient and TINA-TI Reference designs for avg and transient.  Can you be specific about what you are trying to do?

  • I am using TPS57112Q1, there is no Tina model for it. I was recommended by you to use TPS54218 for Tina simulation.

I simulated it and also verified  the design with calculation(without considering phase lag due to slope compensation). The design is working very well. For next project I like to consider also this slope compensation to calculate the compensation networks. therefore I like to measure the loop gain. There is only transient model of TPS54218 in Tina-Library. It will be better to get average model of TPS57112q1 if not the average model of TPD54218 will be enough.

  • Bishnu,

The TPS54218 models are already built into TINA-TI. So are the reference designs (See Open Examples...--> Smps-->TPS54218). Perhaps you have not updated your version of TINA-TI 9 (use the Help--> Check for Updates).

For devices that are NOT already built into TINA-TI v9:

The best way to use the downloaded .TSM files is to use the Insert--> Macro option from TINA. You simply navigate to the location where you saved the .TSM file from the window that pops up. When you select the macro to place, it will place it into your schematic.

If you want to install the device into the pull dow menu, you will need system admin rights on your machine and will need to copy the .lib and .tld files into the installed directory (for the standard insall, this is C:\Program Files (x86)\DesignSoft\TINA9 - TI\SPICELIB . The next time you start TINA-TI, you will be notified that a new library has been detected. Select OK and it will build the new file into the proper menu.

I prefer using the .TSM file or simply cutting and pasting from the .TSC file.

  • Sorry john!

I have downloaded model from this links: http://www.ti.com/product/tps54218 and extracted.

For your first recommendation: There is no file with extension .tsm

For second recommendation: there is file with extension .tld (refer the attached file)

Perhaps the online model is not complete.

    pls. find the mistake!

  • Bishnu,

That is a picture of the download for the PSpice models. The TINA-TI model file contains a .TSM. .TLD, and .LIB file. The TINA and PSpice models are complete on the Web. The error is that you have downloaded a PSpice model, not a TINA-TI model.
