[FAQ] TINA/Spice: Guidelines for requesting debug help for simulation models

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

There are many things that can cause the simulation to give unexpected results (which may or may not be a direct result of the model). As a general practice, please follow the following steps while requesting debug help related to simulation models.

  • If requesting TINA-TI debug help, please
    • Make sure you are using the latest version of TINA-TI.
    • If you still face issues when using the latest version of TINA-TI, please attach your TSC file with the post (not just the image of your schematic). You can find instructions on to attach files to the forum here.

  • If requesting help with PSpice models, please
    • Attach your complete project to the post (this should include not only the DSN file, but the following files as well - OPJ, LIB, OLB, .SIM).
    • Please make sure that you zip the project before attaching it to the post.
    • Also, as a good practice, please make sure that you are able to open the zip file in another location on your machine and run the simulations. Many times, if you have hard coded library references, the project zip will not work on another machine. This process will ensure you can catch such issues before posting your project.
