WEBENCH® Tools/LM3488: E-Sim strange Vout

Part Number: LM3488

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Team,

Good afternoon, my customer is looking at using the LM3488 for their 5V input, 24V output boost converter at 2A.

Using the tools E-sim feature, the Vout waveform looks like (not even at 24V):

What's going on here?

Thank you and please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

~John

  • Hi John,

I am able to reproduce this issue as well. Seems like an issue with the tstop of the simulation being too small. I will ask someone from the team to take a look at this. Thanks for reporting it.

In the meanwhile, one workaround to get atleast the startup and steady state waveforms is by clicking "EDIT" button above the schematic inside the "Sim" tab. Once you click "Edit the design" and update "tstop" in "Simulation Parameters" from 5ms to 15ms, you should be able to see final settled waveforms. Here is the default design with this for 5Vin, 24Vo, 2A for LM3488:
    webench.ti.com/.../SDP.cgi

You can view an already run sim using the "Past sims" button once you enter this design and clicking on any waveforms of interest you would like to observe.
