WEBENCH® Tools/LM5176: Why does WeBench output a 450W LM5176 solution while TI max power ref design is 300W?

Part Number: LM5176

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

WeBench input: 33-55V; output: 45V 10A

1 solution found: LM5176.

On the other hand TI maximum power reference design is 300W according to https://e2e.ti.com/support/power_management/non-isolated_dcdc/f/196/p/698370/2575637

What should be changed?

a.) WeBench

b.) TI max power ref design wattage

  • Hi Jacob,

Typically the maximum realistic output power limit is 300W. This is not a hard limit.
Having said that if the components are available and the solution is fine then the power can be higher than 300W as this depends on number of factors such as switching frequency, input voltage, output voltage and maximum output current.
Hope this helps to explain that 300W output power is flexible maximum for this device.

    Thanks and Regards,
    Atul.
