DLPNIRNANOEVM: Scan Error:DLPC150 Boot error detected

Part Number: DLPNIRNANOEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC150

Dear Sir/Madam,

We received DLPNIRNANOEVM module which ordered via TI store (Order number T01597067)
The S/N recorded on the module is : 95UB101GC0A6100003
However, we have problem to connect DLPC150 and proceeding scan, according to error message shown by DLP NIRScan Nano GUI v2.1.0.

The detail symptoms observed as below after boot-up.

1) LED D1 keeps flashing after boot up (according to the user guide document, D1 should be the Scan LED indicator)
2) DLPC FW version couldn't be detected which shown as 0.0.0
3) We'ed tried to update the firmware which downloaded on TI website, the version we updated was DLPR150PROM_2.3.1.img. The flash was successfully by the message of GUI but the system still shown error after the FW updated.

Please help to troubleshoot and provide the out of factory report of this module

  • Hi Chiu,

Welcome to the TI E2E forums and thanks for showing interest in the DLP technology.

We will look into the issue you reported and get back to you soon.

    Thank you!

    Regards,

    Lori Wang

  • Thank you for your attention.

We can provide the snapshot and videos, please let me know if it will help.

    Warm regards

  • Hi Chiu,

What does the error message show in DLP NIRscan Nano GUI?

It would be help if you could provide the snapshots.

    Thanks!

    Regards,

    Lori

  • Here are the information we could collect so far, there is nothing further we can do.

    Please advise the next move.

  • Hi Chiu,

    Thanks for sharing the snapshots.

While updating the DLPR150PROM_2.3.1.img using DLP NIRScan Nano GUI v2.1.0, there is no image validation check being done as of now.

Hence, if  the DLPR150PROM_2.3.1.img is corrupted then you would be getting the DLPC150 Boot error detected message. This might happen while extracting the firmware installation tool or if the image file is being edited.

So, Could you please try downloading the DLPC150 V2.3.1 firmware again and ensure there aren't any warning or errors while extracting.

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Dear Akhil,

I'd downloaded firware installer and extracted DLPR150PROM_2.3.1.img again accord to your advise.

However, after reboot, the same error message still shown as attached snapshot.

The latest extracted DLPR150PROM_2.3.1.img shown as 179,384 bit. Not sure if it could help to verify the img file is a none-corrupted by file size like this.

    Please recommend the next step.

    Cheers

    Samuel

  • Hi Chiu,

Apologies on the delay. We are currently discussing about this internally and will get back to you with further insights ASAP.

Just in case, Can you try updating the firmware of the Tiva controller and check it once in the mean time.

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Dear Akhil,

I'd redownloaded DLPNIRscanNanoSoftware_2.1.0 and flash it again. Just in case if the bin file discrepancy happens, the file size we are flashing is 377,168bit for your reference.

  • Hi Chiu,

Thanks a lot for the confirmation. We will get back to you ASAP.

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Hi Akhil,

May I ask if there is any further action we can do from here?

(sorry for duplicated reply, I have no idea how it comes, please ignore the other message)

  • Chiu,

When did this issue start happening? Has this been a problem since you purchased the EVM? If so, perhaps there is a problem with the EEPROM flash device on the board. Any details you can share on the same?

    Regards,

    Philippe

  • Dear Philippe,
    Thank you for following up.
We found the scan issue at the first day we open the box, and we raise the TI tech support at the 2nd day.(3rd August)
We didn't have a chance to evaluate does the spectrum was correct or not, then scan failed warning kept happen after the DLPC and Tiva FW update. We'd tried to flash both version back but it wasn't help to recover the DLPC connection problem. We ever able push the scan button successfully (without any sample at the front of window) at the beginning. But we are pretty sure the connection problem was happened after the FW update.

Hope this information helps, please advise the next step.

    Thanks

    Samuel

  • Hi Chiu,

We had discussion within the team regarding the boot error. Since you have verified that there isn't any corruption in the firmware image, everything points out to be some hardware fault.

Since it hasn't been 90 days yet, You will be eligible for the warranty. So, you can claim for replacement in the TI store and you can add this thread as reference.

    Sorry for the inconvenience caused.

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Dear Akhil,

We appreciate the support from you and the team, you guys are really aggressively trying to help us.

Wish you success in all your endeavors
