DLP6500FYE: DLP6500 DMD

Part Number: DLP6500FYE

That is, before the DMD is connected to the power supply and the data line, the welcome interface can be displayed. After using for a period of time, the DMD does not respond after the connection is connected or the DMD does not respond when the connection board is moved, but the GUI interface shows that the connection is normal and the green light is on. , But the DMD device has no response, it will work for a while, it will not work for a while, is it because of poor contact or is there any solution, whether it needs to be repaired, look forward to your reply, thank you

  • Hi shiqi zhou,

I did not understand what you are referring to as connection board.
Controller and DMD board should be connected well before applying power. When EVM is powered on, nobody should touch the EVM board and any components. This will cause ESD damage.

Symptoms looks to me issue with the connection. Please try following suggestions.
    1. You can verify the Flex cable between controller and DMD are connected properly. Remove and connect again.
    2. Check with using other power supply. Make sure power supply is rated for the Voltage and Current requirement by the EVM.
    3. Delete the "FlashLoaderCache" folder in the firmware installation directory("DLPR900PROM-6500-") and update the firmware again through GUI.

If none of the above steps resolves the problem, then there could be hardware problem and board has to be repaired.

    Thanks,
    Shivakumar

  • How can I update it through the GUI?

  • Hi shiqi zhou,

  • I tried it, but the DMD didn’t respond. The DLP welcome screen was always present when the power was turned on normally, but now the black and white stripe feel is maintained, and D8 and D9 on the control board are all green, and D6 is also blinking. The buzzer is normal, and the connection on the computer is normal. Does it mean that the DMD chip may be broken and needs to be repaired and replaced? grateful

  • Hello Shiqi Zhou,

Your board seems to be recognizing the controller well, the LEDs status shows that. What do you mean by 'buzzer'?

In Shivakumar's description, were you able to perform these tests?

    1. You can verify the Flex cable between controller and DMD are connected properly. Remove and connect again. In addition, when screwing down the cables please utilize quarter-turns on both sides until snug.

    2. Check with using other power supply. Make sure power supply is rated for the Voltage and Current requirement by the EVM.

    Please perform these tasks:

    1. Unplug and power down board

    2. Delete cache and reinstall DMD on board and make sure it is properly seated.

    3. Download the latest version of the GUI - Version 5.0.0 - www.ti.com/.../DLPC900REF-SW

    4. Plug in and power up Board

    5. Install version 6.0.0 of the Firmware - www.ti.com/.../DLPR900

    6. Browse for Firmware file location 'C:\Texas Instruments-DLP\DLPR900PROM-6.0.0\DLPR900PROM-6.0.0\DLPR900PROM-6500-v6.0.0' and locate and open 'dlp6500_6.0.0_OOB.img'.

    7. After finished power toggle the board - Splash screen should be visible.

    Best,
