DLP4500: Illuminations and depth of focus

Part Number: DLP4500

Hello E2E,

Regarding the DLP4500 (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/dlpu011f/dlpu011f.pdf?ts=1640106955868) there is a detail provided for RGB illuminators in this module. Do we provide illuminator options with NIR as well?

Also, can you please advise what is the Field of illuminations and depth of focus for this module?

Regards,
Carlo

  • Hello Carlo,

Welcome to DLP forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

The EVM from TI is available only for visible light - R,G & B LED. You may want to reach out to our third party providers like EKB technologies for a NIR EVM for this device.

Also, can you please advise what is the Field of illuminations and depth of focus for this module?

The specification for the optical engine is listed in Table 2.1 (page 10) of the user guide

    www.ti.com/.../dlpu011f.pdf

The Optics used in the optical engine is F/#2.1. We don't specify  the depth of focus.

The throw ratio for the optical engine is 1.2. It implies that Image is 1 meter wide from a distance of 1.2  meter. You can use this information to calculate the FOV for projection.

    Horizontal FOV = 2 * ATAN(0.5/1.2) = ~45 Degree

    Vertical FOV = 2 * ATAN((800*0.5)/(1280*1.2)) = ~ 29 degree

    regards,

    Vivek
