DLPDLCR2000EVM: DLPDLCR2000EVM: DLPDLCR2000EVM Display is not working when connected to BeagleBone Black

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology!

What is the status of HOST_IRQ (LED D2 on PCB) when you boot the EVM while connected to the BeagleBone Black? Ideally this would drive low after a brief moment of driving high.

Have you downloaded the drivers that Philippe points out in the thread that you have referenced?

Thanks for your reply. I am not sure what you mean by "LED D2 on PCB"; if you mean the green LED on the PCB of the projector, it lights up for a brief moment when the BeagleBone Black boots, then it turns off.

I did not download the AM335xSDK SDK that was linked in the thread, because I was under the impression that if I use the image file, the drivers should already be included; furthermore, this link is dead, sadly: processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Graphics_SDK_Quick_installation_and_user_guide

Is the complete SDK (1.8 GB) required on the BeagleBone Black?

Hi Philipp,

A few things to check first:

1. Check to ensure the debian distro you are using supports the DLPDLCR2000EVM. In this case, the latest one with support can be found here: https://debian.beagleboard.org/images/rcn-ee.net/rootfs/bb.org/testing/2017-08-01/lxqt-4gb/ 
2. Ensure that you are following correct sequence for power-on of system:
   1. Connect EVM to BBB
   2. Power on EVM first
   3. Then, power on BBB

1. I used this image: BBB-blank-debian-8.9-lxqt-4gb-armhf-2017-08-01-4gb.img

2. I made sure that I use this sequence; however, is there a power button on the EVM PCB that I am not aware of? Or is connecting it to power enough?

Hi Philipp,

There is no power button on the EVM.

You will need to connect the EVM to power first so that the board is powered and the flash storage on board is powered. The projector will not turn on since the BBB is not driving the proper control signals to power on the projector. Once the BBB is connected to power, it will read the EVM information stored in a flash device and initialize the BBB to work with the EVM properly. Upon proper initialization, the BBB will boot and drive PROJ_ON_EXT high, turning on the projector.

I see. So the BBB does not set PROJ_ON_EXT high properly; is there any way I could debug this further? I am familiar with Linux, and I checked the Kernel logs but could not find anything (then again I was not sure what to look for).
