Dear Texas instruments:

My name is Kokoro Fujiwara from the University of Tokyo.

I'm thinking of buying your products, DLP4500NIR and DLPC350.

The aim is just to move the mirror into a certain pattern.

I would like to use DLP4500 GUI, and does this GUI work with only these two products?

Or, is it necessary to build an electronic circuit to use this?

If possible, please tell me any other products that I will need.

Welcome to DLP forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

Do you need a whole EVM with an optical engine or do you only need the electronics to just move the DMD?

Can you give more detail on how you intend to use this product so we provide better support?

Sorry for the lack of explanation. I'm going to use it to spectroscopy.

The DMD is used for choosing the wavelength that I would like to measure, and I use mid-infrared laser in my laboratory for the light source.

So I don't need a whole EVM and only need the electronics to just move the DMD.

In this case, can I use DLP4500 GUI for loading the pattern to DMD?

Furthermore, do I need anything else besides DLP4500NIR and DLPC350 for this purpose?

Hello Fujiwara-san,

DLP4500 GUI works with DLPC350 controller. You need to build the drive electronic board based on DLPC350. Please refer to the block diagram in page 9 of the DLP4500 EVM user guide

The GUI communicates through the USB port in the board. You can build your own custom board and can use the following reference design as starting point

The other option is use the electronics and board of the DLP4500 EVM and connect to DLP4500NIR DMD using the flex cable of the EVM.

If I choose the latter option, is it possible to buy only the electronics and board of the DLP4500 EVM?

As I mentioned, I don't need the optical part of the DLP4500 EVM.

TI sales complete EVM only. TI does not sale only Electronics or spare parts.

If I buy DLPLCR4500EVM and DLP4500NIRAFQD, is there any products that I have to buy or make?

For example, the cables, the power supplies ,etc.

Hello Fujiwara-san,

You need to buy power supply for EVM. The details of the power supply requirement is listed in page 64 (Appendix B) of the DLP4500 EVM user guide.

The DLP4500 EVM uses DLP4500FQE device and DLP4500NIR DMD comes in CLG(FQD) package. The package type and number of pins are differtn between these two devices.

It will require you to make a new flex cable and also build/source DMD mounting hardware.

You can refer to the application note on "DLP® Series-310 DMD and System Mounting Concepts" for recommended practice for the DMD mounting.

It will be a good amount of efforts to use DLP4500NIR DMD with DLP4500 EVM.

However, the links on page39 of "DLP® Series-310 DMD and System Mounting Concepts" seems to be broken and I cannot access.

Could you share the CAD file with me?

Especially, I would like to download the files named DLPC078, DLPC079 and DLPC080.
