DLPLCR4500EVM: DLP 4500 mini HDMI port

Part Number: DLPLCR4500EVM

Hi,

The mini HDMI port is detached from the main logic board (See attached picture). I wonder how to reconnect it? Or other options to fix this problem. Thanks!

Best,

Ninghan

  • Hello Ninghan,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology!

To fix this issue you will need to re-solder the port onto the board. If you are unable to do so, you may consider reaching out to the location or distributor from whom you obtained the EVM. They may have options for repair services in your area.

    Kind regards,

    Austin

  • Hi Austin,

I contacted Mouser, they do not have repair service. I was wondering if anyone from your side can give me an instruction about how to re-solder it.

  • Hello Ninghan,

Generally speaking you will need to re-establish contacts between the port and the board. The piece should fit on top of the pads somewhat intuitively. The schematic for the EVM can be found on the DLP4500-C350REF page. Be sure that all signals on J7 are in place with the exception of the no-contact seen in the schematic.

As far as the techniques for soldering, there are plenty of free resources online that can demonstrate the process. We are unable to safely walk you through the process over this forum.

Best of luck and kind regards,

    Austin
