DLP4710EVM-LC: Firmware update troubles

Hello Justin,

Can you try reflashing the same firmware image again? Try flashing with the power switch on but don't press the PROJ_ON button. After it is flashed, power cycle the EVM.

You can also try flashing the old firmware back to the EVM and then flashing the new firmware back.

Please tell us the results after trying this.

Would you happen to know if this would solve the weird behavior experience with running internal pattern mode? That purple image with the line in the middle is supposed to be a ramp image 8 bit mono.

Still no luck. 

After flashing the program EVM status is connected, powered off.

My connections look good in the EVM tool, but it still fails to access the I2C bus.

My goal is to be able to project images using internal pattern mode without the purple tinge and the discontinuous color at the 127-128 value mark.

Will the EVM still give a light output even though it is not connecting to the GUI? Are you connecting to the GUI when the EVM is projecting?

Can you try disconnecting on the FlashProgramming Interface?

Hi John, 

There is no light being projected with the 8.1 firmware.

I still get that the EVM Status is connected but powered off.

Disconnecting the SPI flash interface still yields the same results. The only way it works is with the old 7.0 firmware.

The error log also generates the three errors every time I try to get the product information.

I am able to reproduce these errors. I was only able to when the power switch was on but the projector switch was toggled off.

When you try and get the EVM to project do the LEDs (D_33 and D_34) right of the button (SW21) light up also?

Hi John,

Only LED D_34 lights up temporarily and then shuts off. I see nothing from D_33. I'll try to link a small video of the power up process.

Hi Justin,

When you are flashing the EVM from the 7.X FW to an 8.X version was the PROJ_ON signal high or was the EVM displaying an Image? It is possible that having the PROJ_ON signal high and then updating FW to the EVM may allow it to flash but not boot correctly the next time.

The FW itself may be corrupted. Can you try and redownload that same image and update the EVM with it? Please keep me updated with how this turn out.
