DLPDLCR2000EVM: Can we remove the LED?

Genius 13859 points
Part Number: DLPDLCR2000EVM

Hi Experts,

Good day. Seeking advise on this query:

I am very interested in purchasing this product, however, the illumination engine is not powerful enough. Can you remove the LED components from this board without causing errors in the controller, or will it expect an LED source to be connected. Ideally I would replace these with my own source.

Thank you very much.

Regards,
Archie A.

  • Hello Archie,

Welcome back to the E2E forum!

The DLPDLCR200EVM will not be able to boot without an LED connected detected. This is also true for all of our chipsets. Your client might consider placing higher rated LED's in the EVM, but please note that the EVM's PMIC will output a maximum of 1A with a maximum voltage of 5.9V.

As an alternative, I would suggest the DLPDLCR230NPEVM. This EVM has a typical output of 100 lumens while the DLPDLCR2000EVM has a maximum of 30 lumens output.

    Regards,

    Austin

  • Hi Austin,

    Thanks for your assistance.

As for my client's applications, it is beneficial to have a laser diode. Do we have an evaluation board, similar in price, that does not have an attached light source?

    Regards,
    Archie A.

  • Archie,

    You are welcome.

We do not sell EVMs that do not have an attached light source. Generally speaking, all of our DLPCs will not boot unless there is an LED or other light source detected.

    Austin
