DLPDLCR2000EVM: Maximum refresh rate and minimum brightness

Hi,

I need a small projector such as the DLPDLCR2000EVM (can be another). I have two requirements in addition to small size:

(1) Refresh rate must be high (200Hz+)

(2) Must be able to dim screen as much as possible

Don't care much about resolution, and I want *less* nits not more. Ideally I want to use a raspberry pi or a beaglebone black.

The DLP2010 chipset (DLP2010+DLPC3430) and DLP230GP chipset (DLPC230GP +DLPC3432) support up to 240Hz frame rate.

TI offer an EVM based on DLP230NP chipset (1080P) . The DLP230NP based EVM will support 240Hz at qHD (960x540) resolution.

Thank you very much Vivek. However, the specs for chipset you mention (and the overview link) both state that that EVM you linked to has a maximum frame rate of 60 Hz. I can probably work with 120 Hz, and I believe the cheapest EVN that will do that is this: https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPDLCR3010EVM-G2#overview Am I wrong?

There is also the question of dimming. Can I dim these projectors/EVMs? If so how?

Sorry I get the resolution part it handles lower resolutions at higher frame rates!

What about the dimming? Can I dim the projector by reducing the current in some way?

Dinis,

Both DLPC3430 and DLPC3432 support input frame rates up to 240hz. Also, yes it is possible to reduce the LED currents in order to reduce the output brightness via I2C commands. Please refer to the software programmer's guide of DLPC3430/DLPC3432 for more information regarding the same.
