DLP6500FLQ: Broken Micromirror Array

Part Number: DLP6500FLQ

Hi,

Good Day.

Customer is using a DMD (DLP6500) which they ordered from Texas Instrument. Unfortunately, it seems like the micromirror array is broken as some mirrors are now stuck, and they are not able to unstuck them. Is there any solution they can try before trying to send a return ticket or something? Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Vincent,

This sounds like the firmware may have gotten corrupted or power was removed before finishing going to standby.

Recently we had a DMD returned for a similar circumstance and the DMD was fine, but the firmware had been corrupted on their board.  Please follow the instructions from page 58 of DLPU101A:

First install the BOOThold jumper (J11) and turn the system on. With the USB cable attached, the system shows connected, but does not recognize the attached DMD. Manually select the radio button that matches your DMD and go to the firmware tab and select the FW image and reprogram. Then power down, remove the BOOThold jumper and restart the system. Reprogramming in this manner often recovers a system without requiring reloading the bootloader through JTAG.

You can download the default firmware here:  https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPR900#downloads
