DLPLCRC900DEVM: DLP Controller replacement

Part Number: DLPLCRC900DEVM

Hello,

I have a question regarding the Digital Controller for Advanced Light Control IC (DLPC900AZPC)

In the BOM it states that DLPC900AZPC IC was used for the build of this driver board - DLPLCRC900DEVM

Due to the long lead time, we were suggested that we can build them ourselves using manufacturer design files on the website

However, the issue is in the shortage of this IC -  DLPC900AZPC, but there is plenty of stock of the previous version of this IC - DLPC900ZPC

Can we use this IC DLPC900ZPC to build this evaluation board DLPLCRC900DEVM instead of the one that you have used in your build BOM DLPC900AZPC?

Would it cause any issues?

Have you actually used this version of IC DLPC900ZPC to build those evaluation boards DLPLCRC900DEVM?

In the Octopart we have found a list of different distributors shown in the Figure below.

Can you please suggest if any of those are trusted TI distributors - Allicdata, One Stop Electronics, Heisener Electronics, Worldway Electronics?

Best regards,
Timur

  • Hello Timur,

The DLPC900AZPC is a direct replacement for DLPC900ZPC, so the DLPC900ZPC should work, but we are unable at this time to verify any of the vendors you list.

We will have to look at this to see if we are able to provide feedback.  Please allow some time for us to look at this.

  • Hello Fizix,

    Thank you for your reply

Can you please suggest if this IC DLPC900ZPC was used to build those evaluation boards DLPLCRC900DEVM?

Are there any differences in performance or any other minor changes that could affect IC? Do they have the same rise/fall times for signals?

It would be nice if could check those distributors

    Best regards,

    Timur

  • Hi Timur,

The devices are functionally the same. The revision letter A was for a new fabrication facility for the exact same design, so there are no changes that affect the IC. The signal specifications are the same.

You will have to check the distributor sources. TI cannot make suggestions on your purchasing options.

    Regards,

    Matt

  • Timur,

The newer part number reflects a process change in manufacturing only, but is functionally and mechanically equivalent to the original part.
