Hi Team.

A customer would like to remove the DMD from DLPDLCR3310EVM. Would you kindly guide us on how to proceed?

Is the DMD held mechanically or is there a glue around DMD? Is it similar to this thread: https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/1091493/dlp3010evm-lc-removing-the-dmd

Hello Marvin,

Could you please get details about the customer's application and what they want to do.? My concern is that DLPDLCR3310EVM may not be right platform for the application.

The optical engine in DLP3310 EVM has an optical actuator. The controller and firmware are designed to create 1080P image using optical actuator and DMD. If you use the DMD with out actuator, the image will not be correct.

Their application is for Spectroscopy but the samples are mostly in the visible range of the em spectra.

Hello Marvin,

Given that you are looking to support a spectroscopy application in the visible light range, the customer might want to consider a Light Control platform. These are geared toward 3D Scan and Machine vision as Vivek mentioned in the other post. This FAQ may help in relaying the pros and cons of each.

From what you are describing here the 3310EVM may not be the best solution.

Can you say why the customer wants to remove the DMD?

Hi Austin,

Their experiment needs the DMD to be exposed to visible light and then manipulate the mirrors in the DMD to get reflections only from a particular row or column but the DMD is covered by a heat sink and facing inwards. So they need to extract the DMD. I have attached the rough sketch of the experimental set-up
