DLP5530PROJQ1EVM: Dynamic projection problems

Part Number: DLP5530PROJQ1EVM

While displaying content via HDMI using the DLP , some green lines will appear randomly over the projection. Sometimes this will go further, suddenly disconnecting the screen share (showing the DLP logo screen) or even disconnecting permanently. In that last case, if reconnecting is attempted, an error will come up: “The amount of pixels per line is unstable”.

Is there any information on how to resolve that problem?

Also when connecting the camera to DLPC230 control program, this message will appear; "Please check if the system is connected, powerwed on and the settings are correct". Grey SPI cable connection seems to be weak on the lower part and by gently pressing that cable into the lower PCB will allow connection to start. It won’t disconnect after that.

Thanks in advance,

Regards,

Diego.

  • Diego,

Most likely the HDMI input is unstable coming into the EVM.  The DLPC230 controller monitors the incoming signal and if unstable will automatically switch to a stable test pattern.  This is a designed feature to enable a "fail safe" operation when used in a car.  Likely the HDMI cable or PC input is not stable, so trying a new cable or a different PC may resolve the issues.

The DLPC230 programmers guide - section 6.4.1 has details on the video periodic BIST check.
