[FAQ] How to Choose the Correct GUI to Flash Firmware Images – Display GUI vs. Light Control GUI

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPDLCR471TPEVM

DLP Pico provides two different GUIs, a Display GUI and Light Control GUI, to flash firmware images onto an Evaluation Module (EVM).

Display GUI

  • For use when flashing EVM-specific firmware from the EVM's product page on TI.com onto a Display EVM
    • Display EVMs have the naming convention ‘DLPDLCRxxxxEVM’
    • Does not include the firmware from the Firmware Selector Tool
    • The Display GUI is specific to the Display chipset, particularly the controller type
  • There are three versions of this GUI:
    • EVM-specific for the DLPDLCR3310EVM
    • EVM-specific for the DLPDLCR4710EVM
    • A standard version for other Display EVMs

Light Control GUI

  • For use when flashing firmware onto:
    • A custom board for the Display chipset
    • The DLPDLCR471TPEVM
    • A Light Control EVM (naming convention ‘DLPxxxxEVM-LC’)
  • One version of the Light Control GUI exists; it is not controller specific
  • If a firmware image fails to flash while using the Display GUI, use the Light Control GUI to flash the image
