Corrupted flash images can occur when a flash process through the GUI is interrupted or otherwise fails. An attempt to re-flash a DLP Pico EVM or system. The following process can be used to correct or to rule out the possibility of a corrupted image issue from preventing the system from booting.
- If not already installed, please download the DLPDLC-GUI available here.
- This GUI, the Light Control GUI, should be used even in in cases of troubleshooting a display chipset. The Light Control GUI is more agnostic as to what platform it is targeting. This will allow a more seamless flash in the case that the software is not able to recognize the EVM.
- Connect your EVM to power and connect to your PC without switching the ON or PROJ_ON switch
- The EVM SPI flash devices are typically powered by standby power, so switching the system on should be unnecessary.
- Open the Light Control DLP EVM GUI and select an EVM that most closely resembles the platform that is being addressed.
- In the case of a dual-ASIC configuration, such as the DLPDLCR4710EVM, it is recommended that the DLP4710EVM-LC be selected as it it above. This will instruct the GUI to target both controllers.
- In the Firmware tab select the "Flash Firmware" box, navigate to the desired firmware image, and click "Start Update.
- Once the flash process is complete for all controllers, restart the EVM to check if the issue has been corrected.
