DLP3010EVM-LC: DLP3010

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC

Hi, I am using the DLP3010EVM-LC GUI to connect the projector. But it shows that the i2c communication has some problems. I cannot get information and also cannot update the firmware. Could you let me know what I should do to solve the problem?

Thank you,

Liming

  • Hello Liming,

Welcome to the E2E forum and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology!

Do you still see the EVM project after applied an external DC power supply and turn on the switch even when the error message appears?

What version of the FW is being used?

Can you please try to reflash the EVM with the latest FW v8.0.1 available here? When you reflashing the EVM, you can just applied the power supply and keep the switch in the OFF position.

Please let us know if it will resolve your issue.

    Regards,

    Lori

  • Hi Lori,

Thanks for your reply. it doesn't project after I apply an external DC power supply. I tried to reflash the latest FW, but it appears the error message that I cannot write the flash via I2C port. I tried to keep the switch in the OFF position but still have the error message.

I am wondering whether the bootloader is overwritten. Since this message typically occurs when we accidentally clicked the advance mode during the flash updating process.

Hope to receive your further reply,

    Liming

  • Hi Liming,

I have some questions to better understand your system:

    1. When you said "it doesn't project after I apply an external DC power supply", I would like to make sure you also moved the SW_ONOFF switch to the ON position?

    2. When you applied power supply and moved the switch ON, what is the status of LEDs shown on the EVM, e.g. D1, D2, D3, D5, D6?

    3. When you first received the EVM, did the EVM project and did you see the problem?

    Regards,

    Lori

  • Hi Lori,

First of all, sorry for the confusion, this is a customized board but it is compatible with the EVM software. We used the EVM GUI successfully. For your questions:

    1. Yes I moved the SW_ON/OFF switch to the ON position.

    2. Since the design is different from the EVM, so I cannot tell the status of those LEDs.

    3. No, the projector worked, this problem only happens after we failed to update the firmware, like I said before, this typically occurs when we accidentally clicked the advance mode during the flash updating process.

    Thanks,

    Liming

  • Hi Liming,

Do you mean that issue os seen only if you try to enable the advanced mode?

Does I2C communication work with GUI in normal mode?

    Regards,

    Akhil

  • Hi Akhil,

As far as I am concerned, it should happen when something else interupts the firmware flashing process. The normal mode works with the I2C communication. But last time one of our group members switched into the advanced mode in the GUI, then this issue occured.

But I am not pretty sure about the reason temporarily.

  • Hi Liming,

According to your description, I think the firmware may not have been fully uploaded to your custom board which could case no projection. If you can not reflash the firmware with your current GUI, I would suggest you uninstall and reinstall the GUI. Then, please try to reflash the board with the latest FW as the instructions mentioned before.

    Regards,

    Lori

  • Hello Liming,

I suspect that the flash image on the EVM might have been corrupted, can you please try to reprogram the flash image via GUI by turning of the EVM SW_ONOFF switch (once you turn off the switch, the GUI should reflect the status of "Connected but Power Off")

    Regards,

    Mayank
