DLP3010LC: 1-bit monochrome pattern display mode is not working with DLP3010LCFQK working in external pattern streaming mode

Part Number: DLP3010LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2005, DLPC3478

Hi Experts,

Recently I need to test the 1-bit monochrome pattern display with DLP3010LCFQK working in external pattern streaming mode.

The DLPC Write Pattern Configuration (96h) is shown as below:

(1) Sequence Type:1-bit mono

(2) Number of Patterns within each VSYNC_WE: 3

(3) Illumination Time: 2555 us

(4) Pre-illumination Dark Time: 171us

(5) Post-illumination Dark Time: 41us

Condition 1(The needed condition): When VSYNC_WE signal is triggered at 83.7Hz, DLP3010LCFQK is not projecting light and TRIGGER_OUT_2 always stays inactive.

Condition 2: When VSYNC_WE signal is still triggered at 83.7Hz with only "Sequnce Type" changed to 8-bit mono,  DLP3010LCFQK is projecting light and TRIGGER_OUT_2 worked well.

Condition 3: When VSYNC_WE signal is still triggered at 83.7Hz with condition 1 config(sequence type: 1-bit mono), DLP3010AFQK is projecting light and TRIGGER_OUT_2 worked well.

The firmware version for DLPC3478 is 8.0.1 (Firmware name: FWSel_DLPC3478_DLPA2005_pm2_i2c0x36_v8p0p1).

Could you help me to solve this issue?

Thank you in advance for your support.

Best Regards,

Gavin

  • Hello User,

Are you using an EVM or is this a custom board?

I think the timings you are specifying are out of spec for that specific FW. The pre and post illumination times will need to be adjusted.

  • Hello John,

I'm using a custom board and thank you for your reply which has resolved this issue!!!

I try to serch the minimum limitations in datasheet and software programmer's guide of DLPC3478, but I failed to find the infomation.

I also download the EVM GUI tool to check the limitations, but the tool shows "EVM Status: Not Connected".

Since I do not have the EVM board now, is there another way to check the limitations via the EVM GUI tool or via other documents?

    Best Regards,

    Gavin
