DLPC900: East/West flip

Part Number: DLPC900
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP9000,

Hii

In a dual DLPC900 configuration (connected to DLP9000 ) the East/West flip is permanently set to on, is it possible to bypass it in order to show the video on the correct East/West flip?
Can it be done using configuration or we need a HW changes?

  • Hello Arik,

Thank you for reaching out to us.

Dual ASIC DLPC900 does not support East/West flip. May I ask why you would require to flip the image?

    Thank you,

    With regards,
    Aishwarya

  • Hello Aishwarya

Our product is a Head-Up Display and required a correct picture orientation

  • Hello Arik,

Let me explain why E/W flip is not supported for the Dual DLPC900 configuration.  Each DLPC900 controller displays half of the DMD.  If you set each controller to do an E/W flip it will not display what you want.

Let's call the controller from the left half "L" and the right half "R".  What you really want is to send the data going to L to R and R to L.  Then do an E/W flip in each controller.

But the middle step would have to be done in software before sending the image data anyway.   Therefore it is easier and less confusing to do the whole E/W flip in software before sending the data to the controller in the first place.  This is why it is not supported as a hardware option for the dual controller systems.

  • Hello Ben

    Thank you for the explanation
    I have two questions:
    1. How will the video stream will be displayed?
    2. How is the pre-stored pattern displayed in the right flip order?

  • Arik,

I am not sure I understand the question.  Since it is not supported in hardware you simply reverse the order of data in each row.  No E/W hardware operation.  Basically you swap it before even sending the data.  If you are wanting to put it into pre-stored, you reverse them on the disk and then store them into flash.

    Does that help?
