DLPDLCR230NPEVM: Can we use raspbeery pi replace the FPGA in DLPDLCR230NPEVM?

Part Number: DLPDLCR230NPEVM

Hi,

We see there is no fpga in DLP2000EVM , and it can work with raspberry pi.  As FPGA is expensive ,can we use raspbeery pi to replace the FPGA in DLPDLCR230NPEVM?

That means we use RPI to replace two parts which are  fpga and host control board.  Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Jeff XU

  • Hello Jeff,

The FPGA on the DLPDLCR230NPEVM is needed for the actuator to work. The FPGA is also responsible for test pattern images and receiving external video data.

Do you already have a 230NPEVM or are you trying to build a design based of of the reference design for this EVM?

This is not something that would be tested/ validated by TI.

    John

  • Hello John,

Thanks for your reply. I have a 230NPEVM now, and as fpga is too expensive , I am trying to build a design without fpga based on this EVM if I have the source code to driver the actuator.

  • Hello Jeff,

This most likely will not work. The controller and FPGA are programmed to work with one another in a way that TI can't support on Raspberry Pi.

    Thank you for your patience.
