DLP6500FLQ: Factory Reset

Part Number: DLP6500FLQ
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP9000, DLPC900

Hi,

Good Day.

We have installed the DLP9000 master software on the DLP6500 PCB board and we cannot restore it. How to load factory settings?

My main problem is I installed Master DLP900 software on the DLP6500 board. So data is coming from the card but I can't send data. How can I convert it to FW dlp6500?

Please advise. Thank you very much.

Best Regards,

Ray Vincent

  • Hello Ray Vincent,

In order to load the original firmware of a different DMD, have the firmware of that new DMD and the DLPC900 GUI on hand. The download link for the latest version of the firmware can be found here on TI.com. The GUI can be downloaded from here. You can use the DLPC900 Single EVM User's Guide JTAG Flash Programming section for reference.

To reprogram the firmware to support a different DMD, perform the following:
    1. Place the boot hold jumper onto the EVM.
    2. Power up the EVM. Upon power up, the default DMD in the GUI is the DLP6500.
    3. Select the new target device (DMD) from the GUI menu.
    4. In the Firmware tab, click the Browse button. Search for the firmware in the Texas Instruments-DLP\ directory
that matches the target DMD. Choose the OOB image.
    5. Click the Upload button and wait for the process to complete.
    6. Power down the EVM and remove the boot hold jumper.
    7. Attach the new hardware and power on the EVM.

  • Hi Maxine,

Good Day. Please see below the reply of our customer to your response. Thank you very much.

When we try to open the JTAG Flash Programming tool it gives an error as attached.

We would be glad if you could help with the issue.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello Ray Vincent,

The JTAG Flash Programming Tool is only necessary if the bootloader has become corrupted. However, I would first try to flash the new image using a boot hold jumper between the appropriate pins on the controller board and using the GUI only. If the new firmware has not been successfully flashed after following the 7 steps outlined above, then it is likely that the bootloader was corrupted.
