DLPC7540EVM: Trigger In Port

Part Number: DLPC7540EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP650TEEVM, DLPC7540, DLP650TE

Hello E2E Experts,

Good day.

I am trying to let the DLP6540TEEVM present a prestored pattern when DLPC7540EVM receives a trigger signal. Then, when receiving another trigger pulse, the DMD presents the next pattern.

When I read the user guide of DLPC7540EVM, it does mention "The DLPC7540EVM offers several interface options for USB, I2C, and trigger inputs and outputs" on page 5. However, I couldn't figure out which port is the "trigger in" port from the manual. Could you help me identify the correct port for trigger-in and provide guidance on how to set this up?

Regards,

CSC

  • Hi CSC,

Thank you for posting your query on e2e!!. We shall look into your problem and get back with suggestions within couple of days.

  • Hi CSC,

I believe you are referring to DLP650TEEVM(DMD board) combined with DLPC7540EVM for the purpose of projecting prestored patterns, please correct me if I am wrong. As I have checked, we don't have the ability to give trigger inputs to DLPC7540 controllers which are used for Display applications. For DLPC7540 we can use I2C/USB interface to send control commands and set various splash patterns/Test Patterns.

The trigger input ports are generally offered with the light control application controllers. Can you please specify the problem/application you are looking into so we can help you better.

  • Hello Venkata,

    Good day.

In this case, does TI offer any kind of EVM or "light control application controllers" that can work with the DLP650TEEVM? We use it in a custom microscopy system where we plan to load custom DMD patterns to the controller and synchronize the DMD with the rest of the system using some sort of synchronization signal (usually via trigger inputs). What would be a good work around if DLPC7540EVM doesn't have the trigger in capability?

    Regards,

    CSC

  • Hi CSC,

Thank you for the information. We shall check with the relevant Light Control applications team and get back with details soon.

  • Hello CSC,

"does TI offer any kind of EVM or "light control application controllers" that can work with the DLP650TEEVM?"

No. DLP650TE is a display DMD.

I would suggest you to look at DLPC900 chipset offerings. This is specifically meant for Light control applications such as microscopy. We also provide Input and Output Trigger feature.

    Thank you,

    Regards,
