DLP9000: DLP9000 DMD spec

Part Number: DLP9000BFLS

Hello . Previously  I received all data I needed on DLP651NE: DMD. That project is modeled and moving forward. need same information on DLD 9000. here are question that I have. we have this product in manufacturing . our optics source changed and we need to model this DMD accurately like before to get successful result. Some of the questions are rhetorical need confirmation from data sheet.

I have this data sheet and used it to get following info please confirm or advise:https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/dlp9000.pdf?ts=1702295682370&ref_url=https%253A%252F%252Fwww.ti.com%252Fproduct%252FDLP9000

1- what is glass thickness? 2.9972+/-0.1016 mm , please confirm or advise

2- what is refractive index of window. is it like Eagles X material?

3- what is gap distance to top of active micromirrors? 0.4826+/-0.1524 mm please confirm or advise

4- what is mirror pitch ? 7.56 um please confirm or advise

5- what is gap between micromirrors ? ==> cant find it I need it like DLP651NE:DMD that you advise previously

==>  I need this gap to get following information mentioned in data sheet. are these below valid. else please confirm/advise

- Micromirror Reflectivity 88%

- Array Diffraction Efficiency 86% -

- Array Fill Factor 92%

6- what is refractive index of window. is it like EAgle X material?!

thank you. I need it fast. this product is in production and we have to replace light source that is no longer produced by manufacturer, we have to model DMD correctly as we are designing a new light source for it.

  • Hello Babak,

1- What is glass thickness? 2.9972+/-0.1016 mm , please confirm or advise

Per the Mechanical ICD page 1 attached to the data sheet this is correct.

2- What is refractive index of window. is it like Eagles X material?

No this is Corning 7056, not Eagle X.  Per the data sheet section 7.14 Window Characteristics the index is 1.487 @ 589 nm wavelength.

    Try this link: https://markoptics.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/08/Corning-7056-PI-sheet_A4-Size.pdf

3- What is gap distance to top of active micromirrors? 0.4826+/-0.1524 mm please confirm or advise

Per the Mechanical ICD page 1 attached to the data sheet this is correct.

4- What is mirror pitch ? 7.56 um please confirm or advise

Per the data sheet section 7.11 Micromirror Array Physical Characteristics the pixel pitch is 7.56 um.

5- What is gap between micromirrors ? ==> cant find it I need it like DLP651NE:DMD that you advise previously

The nominal value is basically the same - 0.5 um.  We do not provide tolerances.

==>  I need this gap to get following information mentioned in data sheet. are these below valid. else please confirm/advise

Please read data sheet section 7.12 Micromirror Array Optical Characteristics.  All values including the following from the first page of the data sheet are predicated on the conditions listed in Note 10 of this table.  The numbers are very dependent on your optical system design.

    - Micromirror Reflectivity 88%

    - Array Diffraction Efficiency 86% -

    - Array Fill Factor 92%

6- What is refractive index of window. is it like Eagle X material?!

This is a duplicate of question 2.

I hope this is what you needed.

  • thanks for response. All questions are answered . last question left: s 0.5um accurate or a nominal as general number for all different DLP9000 parts. I do not care about tolerances but I need/ want nominal average accurate number for number for DLP9000BFLS
    thanks
please see Figure 10. DMD Micromirror Active Area, page 23 : DLP9000 Family of 0.9 WQXGA Type A DMDs datasheet (Rev. B) (ti.com)
    I
need to have correct mirror size, gap and pitch to build exact size of 19.354mm X12.096mm of active area when I use 2560 X1600 micromirrors  see 7.11 Micromirror Array Physical Characteristics, page 22. but 2500X1600 doe snot end up to that length and width 19.354mm X12.096mm .
    thanks

  • Hello again  Babak,

The 0.5 um is the nominal number for DLP9000 parts.  We do not have another number to provide.  All of the silicon for the DLP9000 parts are the same.

Regarding the pixel pitch, this is from center to center, so that 19.354 mm / 2560 pixels gives 7.560 / pixel (accurate to 3 decimal places).  In addition 12.096 mm / 1600 gives exactly 7.56 um / pixel.  Pixel pitch does not account for gap.  For the mirror size it will be pitch - gap.

  • Issue is resolved . Error was on my side as Zemax calculate center of first micro mirror to last. This way, dimension is calculated by ZEMAX is one pitch off, 7.56um.  If  Zemax calculated dimensions from edge to edge both DLP data sheet and Zemax would of matched.  So both Zemax and data sheet are correct,  as they are calculating arrays of micromirror a little different. Note, Zemax user need to increase decimal point in setup, if they want to see 7.56um than 7.6um rounded up.

Please close the case. Thank you for your genuine support.

  • Babak,

Thank you for the follow-up.  This information may be quite useful to others.

    Fizix

  • that's is exactly why I responded in full for others to use it.
    thanks

  • Babak,

Thanks for your input.  I am closing this item out now.
