DLPLCRC410EVM: D17 is Green, D2 is Red

Hi,

I am trying to run the pre-loaded test patterns. When powering on the board it gets stuck with D17 as green and D2 as red.

I am connecting the board to the DLPLCR70EVM via J13. I am using a 5V, 10A power supply. I made sure 5.0V was received at the J12 connector.

I made sure the proper voltages were present at TP9, TP21, TP10, TP3, TP25 and TP32 as specified in the Debugging FAQs here: https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/1254555/faq-dlplcrc410evm-debugging-faqs

When I power the board, D3 turns on as green briefly before turning off and then D17 turns on as green. D2 turns on as red and stays on. No other LEDs on the board turn on after this.

J2 has all 5 jumpers in the 3.3V position. How do I know if this is correct?

In the Debugging FAQs document linked above it is suggested to reprogram the PROM as it may be corrupted, however the files for reprogramming cannot be found when clicking on the hyperlink in section 4.

Please advise next steps so I can display test patterns.

Hello William,

D17 illuminated means that the DLPC410 controller is configured. It appears however that since D16 does not illuminate that the APPS_FPGA is not programmed.

This appears to be FW revision 5 which may not operate correctly with version 2 of the GUI. If you have version 1 of the GUI you can try running it, however, it is generally "unhappy" with the latest versions of Windows 10.

The default PROM load for the APPS_FPGA on this board should result in D9 starting a heartbeat. When you run the GUI it should load its own APPS_FPGA load that should also run the training patterns into the DLPC410 resulting in configuration of the DLPC410 completing correctly.

Please let me know if you do not have access to GUI v1. Reprogramming the APPS_PROM requires an old version of the Xilinx Impact tool, which needs to run on XP. I believe you can get the older versions off of the web, but I cannot guarantee it.

I was able to get this up and running on Windows 11 (x64-based processor) by downloading both v1 and v2 of the GUI from the TI website, having the evaluation board connected to my computer and 5V at J12 from an external power supply, going to Device Manager and updating the TI driver (with windows automatically searching for the update), and then running the v1 executable GUI file and loading images that way.
