DLP3021LEQ1EVM: DLP Composer example project out of date (build fails)

Part Number: DLP3021LEQ1EVM

Hi,

I am trying to build the example DLP Composer project for DLP3021LEQ1EVM, however, it seems that the example project is out of date which causes build errors.

I used the example project from dlpc135a.zip (DLP3021Q1FPGA-1.2-windows-installer)

Problems list so far:

1) In the Image/Video the Sequence Set column values were undefined -- I selected 'baseline' for all

2) Then I encountered the error with floating point duty cycle values in the Sequence Set -- found the solution from https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/1183550/dlp2021leq1evm-dlp-software-demonstration-video-is-not-up-to-date/

3) Sequence Set Frame rates were undefined -- Selected 25 Hz for both (25 Hz was recommended in the EVM manual)

4) Sequence Set still not building (no errors are shown in the log) -- unchecked the 'high brightness' set -- the sequence set now builds

5) Build fails at degamma. From build log:

So it seems that unchecking the 'high brightness' Sequence Set which resolved the previous issue is causing this.

In Sequence Set unchecked 'baseline' and checked 'high brightness'. Also in Image/Video selected 'high brightness' for all files. The build now gets to encoding and compressing video data.

6) build still fails with event viewer message, but 0 errors in Error List

In any case, providing an updated example project file compatible with the current DLP Composer version would be very helpful.

Best regards,

Andreas

  • Hello Andreas,

On the Sequence Set page, select 25Hz as frame rate because this is the only supported sequence in the current Composer project. For the RGB duty cycle,  please use integer numbers instead decimal values.

On the Image/Video page, you have option to select Sequence set as baseline or high brightness if you selected both of them from the Sequence set page.

Then, you can build the project. This should be able to build a .img file.

Please let me know if you have further issue.

    Regard,

    Lori

  • Hi Lori,

The issue is that if I select both baseline and high brightness on the Sequence Set, then the build fails at the Sequence Set stage (although the error list shows 0 errors).

If I deselect one of the Sequence Sets and choose the remaining one on the Image/Video tab, then the build completes the Sequence Set part, but fails at a later stage.

    Thanks,

    Andreas

  • Hi Andreas,

What's the Composer version you are using?

Can you screenshot the Error List window when you selected both baseline and high brightness on the Sequence set page and build the project? It's wired that you don't see any error.

What do you mean "fails at a later stage", do you see any error under Error List?

    Regards,

    Lori

  • Hi Lori,

I got the build working when selecting only the baseline sequence and rebuilding. Maybe the issue before with this configuration was that the build failed with some other settings, I changed them and chose Build instead of Rebuild.

Anyway I can now progress with testing.

Selecting both sequences or only high brightness still didn't work. If you are interested, the problem description is given below.

The DLP Composer version is 15.3.0.7 (Build 20220602, #2a88cb65).

    Both sequences selected:

Here is a screenshot of the error list when selecting both sequence sets:

    Only high brightness selected:

The degamma building completes and I video encoding starts

Error list is empty, but Event Viewer shows

    Build log shows

    Thanks,

    Andreas

  • Hello Andreas,

I'm glad you can progress now. Yes, please use Build instead of Rebuild if you see fails.

If you are interested in using high brightness for future development, please send your exported Composer project and I can take a look of it. For now, I'm going to close this ticket.

    Regards,

    Lori
