DLP4710EVM-LC: Failure to start

Hi Maximus

Unfortunately going through the EVM GUI, it will not connect, it simply shows 'EVM status connected, turned off'. Can you confirm that that the firmware is an exe or an image ? Unfortunately if its the exe it gets killed by our firewall.

I should also add its the DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2 that I'm having the problem with... I couldn't change the part number once added

Have you done any hardware modifications or previously removed any connections to the device? This includes the ribbon cables leading to the DMD. Otherwise could you please probe the power up signals to test the DLPA is powering up properly according to the DLPA3005 power up timing diagram attached?

Hi Maximus, we've not made any modifications - my first thought was that the ribbon cable had come out, but I've double checked and re-seated it and all appears good. We've not made any mods to the unit, literally its held in-situ on one of our test rigs projecting artefact images.

I'll double check on the timing this afternoon and get back to you.

Hi Maximums, sorry to be a pain - is there a WI for connections to check this ? Just want to make sure as I don't want to connect up to the wrong points on the PCB !

You should be able to download the board layout file from the product page and search each testpoint according to the schematic. Link can be found here.

HI Max, got the schematic (TIDA-01226 DLPDLCR4710EVM-G2), but is there a key for test point locations in the documentation ? There's no ID on the board & I can't open the Gerber file to interrogate further

Just to give a bit more info, when first powered up, D57 is lit; when I then press SW21 D56 lights up momentarily with D57 going out, then it returns back to the state where D57 is lit.

Please try to re-flash the EVM with the latest firmware. You should turn SW28 ON and keep SW21 OFF when flashing the firmware. 

Did you have notice that D33 and D34 light up? 

The EVM board should print the TP name on it if you could not find it in the layout.

Hi Andrew,

Only the board layout file has a map of these signals and their test points. Also following up with Lori's request, understanding the behavior of D33 and D34 may help as well. Do you have access to an SOIC clip or something similar? If so here is a link to a guide showing how to reflash the system without the DLP GUI (link).

Hi Maximus, I've ordered the connector (we have the programmer); I've also managed to find a couple of the test points (will keep looking!) so will try and give you some feedback for Wednesday of next week

Actually looking back at the schematic, can I go in through connector J21 ? Or do you need to connect direct
