DLP4500: The difference in brightness between video mode and pattern sequence mode using Light Crafter4500

Part Number: DLP4500

Tool/software:

I am Miwa Kitakaze , a user of DLP4500.

The brightness differs between video mode and sequence mode, even when the same image is projected.
The brightness of the video mode is less than half that of the sequence mode.
LED Current is the same 110 in both modes.
I want to make the brightness in video mode the same as in sequence mode.
Please tell me how to set the brightness in video mode.
The screenshots are attached.

  • Hello Miwa Kitakaze,

Welcome back to the E2E forums and we hope to assist you with your questions.

What source are you using for both methods? In the top image it looks like you are wanting to use an image from internal flash while the bottom image looks like you are configuring the input source as external video through HDMI using parallel but it looks like you do not have any video signal information.

I assume you are using the same source for both tests?

Please note that for video mode, there is image processing applied while pattern mode all of the image processing is bypassed. This can affect the final displayed image behavior.

The following picture is from the DLPC350 controller chip datasheet. You can read more there as well as in the DLP4500LCREVM user guide.

  • Thank you for your kind advice.

I use Linux, but I didn't know that you can set the brightness of the projection on Linux.
Your advice made me aware of it.
I think I can solve this problem.
    Please close this question.
Maybe, I will ask another question.

    Best regards,
