DLPC900: Does it need a PMIC?

Hi, I noticed that the diagram for the DLPC900 has just three parts: the DLPC EVM, the DMD EVM, and the connecting cable. The diagram does not include a PMIC.

The question is does the DLPC900 need a PMIC?

If not, how else do I power the DLPC900. Is it just a voltage source. Any suggestions on powering it up?

Hello Nigel,

The diagram you are referring to is a very simplified diagram. The DMD EVM board does contains the following power chip TPS65145. Please see the following for schematics of the DMD EVM board:

Similarly you can see the schematic for the DLPLCRC900EVM that connects to the DMD EVM here:

https://www.ti.com/tool/DLPLCRC900EVM#design-files - page 15 contains 3 power generation chips for the main board.

In other words, the board includes it and we don't need to buy a separate module for it.

Hello Nigel,

Yes that is correct. The only thing you will need would be a power supply to provide the 12V input. You can find recommendations in the DLP® LightCrafter Single DLPC900 Evaluation Module Guide.
