Hi,

Want to buy DLPDLCR3310EVM to test with new LEDs. But LED is a common cathode structure. Can EVM drive common cathode structure LED? Or can the CHn_GATE_CTRL signal be externally connected to the EN pin of an external LED driver (such as LM3409)?
Is there any other DMD evaluation version that can drive common cathode LEDs? I would like to refer to its driving architecture and evaluate the feasibility of replacing the EVM.

    Welcome back to the E2E forums and thank you for your interest in DLP Technology. We hope to assist you with your questions. 

    I checked with the team and the DLPA30xx PMIC/LED Driver only supports Common Anode configuration, not Common Cathode.

    The DLPLCR3310EVM cannot connect to external LED drivers for any other configuration.

    Thanks for your reply, but my job still needs to think of other feasible ways to drive common cathode LEDs.


    When the EVM remains connected to the common anode LED, the DLPA3000 will not detect abnormalities. Can I use the CHn_GATE_CTRL signal to control the common cathode LED Driver ON/OFF?


    Or is it possible to purchase an EVM containing DLPA3005 + DLP3310?

    The DLPA30xx only supports common anode configuration and does not support common cathode configuration. You will need to design your own LED driver solution for common cathode configuration. 

    Unfortunately the DLPLCR3310EVM is only available with the DLPA3000 not DLPA3005.

    Is it possible to identify the currently turned on LED R/G/B through PIN19~21 (CHn_GATE_CTRL) of DLPA3000? And can the driving capability of PIN19~21 be provided?
    Such as High-level output voltage, Peak Output Current, Rise Time & Fall Time.

    If you want to see what LED is being turned on, you can use the LED SEL 0/1 signals that are coming from the DLPC3437 into the DLPA3000. 

    Again the DLPA3000 does not use the CHn_GATE_CTRL. If you want to learn more about the CHn_GATE_CTRL you can take a look at the DLPA3005 datasheet. The information in the DLPA3005 is what is available in regards to CHn_GATE_CTRL.
