DLP3310: Controlling DMD Without DLPC3437 for static, binary pixel display

Part Number: DLP3310
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA3000, , DLPC3437

Tool/software:

I have an application where I'm using the DLP LightCrafter Display 3310 EVM to project static binary images through a microscope objective.

I don't need pixel depth, RGB or video frame rates; just a binary image that I can refresh at about 0.5-1Hz. I am already bypassing the RGB LEDs and DLPA3000 by feeding my own light source into the optical engine, but what I would really like to do is just connect a microcontroller directly to the DMD interface of the the optical engine so that I reduce the size of the module in my prototype.

Is there a specification for controlling the DMD directly through the subLVDS interface?

  • Hello User,

Welcome to the E2E forums and thank you for your interest in DLP® technology.

The DLP3310 is only meant to be used with the FPGA + dual DLPC3437 and DLPA3000 chipset. We do not provide support for use cases outside the scope of the complete chipset.

You are free to create your own smaller PCB without some of the other interfaces such as HDMI or USB interface. The reference design is located here:
