DLPC4420AEVM: DLPC4422EVM+DLP780TE,How to make DLPC4422EVM support 4-way actuator?

Part Number: DLPC4420AEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC4420, DLP780TE, DLP470TE, DLP660TE

Tool/software:

LP780TE Hardware Design has beed shared with me from TI  and miniAik has shared one .78 actuator with me

We plan to develop DLPC4420 + DLP780TE + 4-way 4K UHD device for Display and 3D printing application.

Hardware = DLPC4420EVM + DLP780TE, "is 2XPR" is clicked. and the 2-way current driver signal is output from J43.

My qestion is where the 4-way XPR driver signals output, J42 yes or no ?If not, 4-way XPR driver signals output, What hardware changes are needed and does the software support them?can you tell me ,thanks

  • Hello Jianwei,

Your ticket has been assigned to the team most familiar with this product.  Please allow a day for them to respond.

  • Hello Jianwei,

2-way actuation was able to be programmed on our ASIC controllers - DLPC44xx - but the 4-way actuation has been moved to the FPGA.

The 4-way actuation signals are output via the FPGA through J54, J55, and J56. Additionally, the .78 isn't meant to be utilized with 2-way actuation.

The software supports 4-way actuation but you must utilize the latest software release along with FPGA firmware version to operate accordingly.

MinAik should be able to support you with more detailed information for pixel shifting.

    Best,

  • HI,Aaron Black,78 isn't meant to be utilized with 2-way actuation,if DLP780TE need 4-way actuator ,What's the difference between the 2-way and  4-way actuator? I know that the standalone board is connected to between DLPC4420EVM and Actuator. Can you share me the hardware design of 4-way actuator standalone board? What's the MinAIK?

    Thank you for you help

    Best Regards

  • Hello Jianwei,

MinAik is the company that supports the actuator, they also have documentation on the hardware designs. I'd recommend you reach out to them for information about this.

2-way only has 2 positions when actuated and is utilized with the DLP660TE to produce 4K UHD image while 4-way actuation has 4 positions when actuated and is utilized with the DLP780TE and DLP470TE to produce 4K UHD images.

    Best,

    Aaron
