DLP3010EVM-LC: DLP EVM GUI : RGB Internal pattern projection only projects B channel

Part Number: DLP3010EVM-LC
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2005, DLPC3478

Tool/software:

Hello,

I am facing the same issue as reported in the post https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/1284285/dlp3010evm-lc-dlp-evm-gui-rgb-internal-pattern-projection-only-projects-b-channel

The firmware version is also the same. I have posted this issue using my university email id as case id CS2703573 but thereafter found the above thread which is similar to my issue therefore thought of posting here as well. Please find below the details :

After an upgrade to the latest firmware v9.0.1 on the DLP3010EVM-LC, RGB internal patterns are projected only in Blue as can be seen in the images below. If I choose the same patterns in Red or Green then the colour changes accordingly, but RGB only shows as Blue.

Would appreciate support on how to fix this.

Also is there a link from where I can download older firmware versions - both the 7.x and 8.x versions - so I can revert back to one that works. I didn't take a backup before upgrading unfortunately.

Attaching images displaying the issue and other details as set in the GUI.

Thanks,

Regards,
Jeetu

  • Hello Jatin,

Thank you for reaching out through E2E!

Before we revert back to an old version, could you please, first try updating to the most recent version of the DLP3010EVM-LC firmware - 9.2.0 - making a backup before reflashing?

Please continue to send photos if you see something else.

    Best,

    Aaron

  • Hi Aaron,

Thanks so much for your reply.

I managed to locate an older EVM firmware with version 8.0.1 - part of FWSel_DLPC3478_DLPA2005_pm1_i2c0x36_v8p0p1.img. This firmware has solved the projection with only the Blue channel issue and with this older firmware I am now able to project RGB patterns.

I shall update to the firmware - 9.2.0 as suggested by you and report on that as well.

The issue I am currently face with v8.0.1 is that the GUI v3.2.0.7 is not able to cycle through two separate pattern sets when run continuously. I have created two 1 bit pattern sets - one with 1D vertical patterns and another with horizontal. I have set the pattern set display order and configuration in the GUI to show both the pattern sets. I have kept timings as specified below for both the pattern sets :

    Pre-Exposure Dark Time: 540

    Exposure Time: 11000

    Post-Exposure Dark Time: 100

The Pattern Set Entry index for both is 0 (though I have tried setting this to one for both or 0 for one and 1 for the other - with no change)

When I trigger the GUI to Run Continuously, only one of the pattern sets (whichever is first) runs and then projection stops.

I was able to stream both Vertical and Horizontal patterns continuously previously but now after the firmware upgrade this doesn't work.

Is this a firmware issue and in your opinion would changing to v9.2.0 help?

I came across this older thread https://e2e.ti.com/support/dlp-products-group/dlp/f/dlp-products-forum/1066060/dlp3010evm-lc-cycle-through-patterns-in-pattern-table where it's said that the GUI cannot successively cycle through pattern sets and I need to write code with the DLPC API for this. Does this still stand true or was this at the point when the post was written three years ago? I know I was able to stream both patterns successively earlier.

Would appreciate your thoughts on the above.

    Thank you for your time.

  • Hi Aaron,

Thanks for your suggestion. The firmware v9.2.0 solved both my issues. I have RGB projection and my horizontal abd vertical patterns are getting cycled just as I would expect them to.

    Thanks so much for this.

    Jeetu
