DLP6500FYE: Backside thermal pad electrically connected to anything?

Part Number: DLP6500FYE

Tool/software:

Hi!

I want to attach a heat sink to the back side thermal pad of a DLP6500FYE. I was wondering if I must electrically isolate the heat sink from the thermal pad in case my heat sink has connection to ground potential. Is the DLP6500FYE's thermal pad electrically connected to any of the device's signals?

Thanks!

Malte

  • Hello Malte,

Thank you for coming to E2E!

The datasheet shows mounting interface areas in section 6.9 and I've attached below:

Although, there shouldn't be any internal electrical connections to the "Thermal Interface Area" of the device, I would still advise to have electrical interfacing connections away from the thermal.

  • Hi Aaron,

Thank you very much for your reply! In my case, it would be just a connection to ground, as the heatsink might be in contact with the metal construction, which is electrically grounded. I will try to avoid even that, though.

    Best,

    Malte
