In the DLPDLCR160CPEVM, the DLP160CP (which is encased in the optical module) is connected to the PCB via

1/ an interposer (probably the BDX0035CMMSXAU00 PCBeam connector by Neoconix).

2/ a flex cable (marked "APOLLO-2 E483189 94V-0")

3/ a smd connector (AXT534124 by Panasonic).

In our application, we need/want to connect the PCB to a "free" DLP160CP (with its own optics) that would be ~15cm away from the PCB.

What would you advise?

Ideally, we would "just" substitute the current flex cable with a longer one.

Could you share the EDA files for the flex cable? (if possible in KiCAD format)

Hello User,

The optical engine manufacturer is the owner of the design files for the flex cable between the formatter board and DMD.

Allow me time to compile notes for flex PCB design.

John,

Would it be feasible to get a CAD file for the APOLLO-2 E483189 94V-0 flex cable interface? Right now I think I can speed up my work in creating this prototype by salvaging the interface parts from the DLPDLCR160CP EVM.

Hello Jonathan,

Unfortunately, TI does not own the design for the Flex PCB. These files are owned by Elephant, who are the Optical Engine manufacturers. I do not have the files that are being requested.

Our team doesn't have too much general advice on flex PCB design. They just ask that the specs listed in the datasheet are followed. Since your controller board and DMD board are separated, we have IBIS models here: https://www.ti.com/product/DLPC3430.

One would think that if TI hired Elephant to design the Optical Engine, they would now own the design...

I'll take my chances designing an AXT534124 flex expender accounting for the LVDS pins. It should be easier than designing my own DLPC3430 dev-board and changing (once again: e2e.ti.com/.../dlpdlcr2000evm-reading-writing-flash-via-i2c-dlpdlcr2000evm-dlp2000-dlpc2607) of DMD chip.
