The D1 is red, D5 is green, the LED near power is green. S1 didn't work. The DMD only display the opening images . is this DLP damaged? Thanks!

Hi Mohan,
Welcome to TI E2E Community!
The D1 is red, D5 is green, the LED near power is green
This looks right. Are you seeing the DLP LightCrafter splash screens with booting status bar on the bottom?
Once the LightCrafter boots completely it will display RGB colored bar static image. Can you see this image? At this point, D1 blinks red and green.
Is the dip switch S2 pointing towards the DM365?
S1 didn't work
S1 works only when the LightCrafter boots up completely (projecting the colored bar display). Long press (2 sec) on S1 switches to self test mode.

Divya
Hey Divya:
It show the booting screen, but it can not finish booting , that is probably the problem .
I use S1 try to switch to HMDI input, my computer is windows 8, is that why I can not boot? Thank you very much for your answer!
Best,
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
Windows 8 shouldn't be an issue.
Can you please try the following,
1. Make sure switch S2 on top board is towards the DM365.
2. Connect right power supply (5V, 3A) to the LightCrafter (JP1). Please disconnect all the other interfaces (USB, HDMI,etc.)
3. Check if D1 is blinking and ideally the colored bar display should appear on the screen within a couple of minutes.
4. Check if D3 on the bottom board (next to power connector) is green.
If the issue still persists, you might have to upgrade the DM365 software.
Regards,
Divya
Hey Divya:
The D3 on the bottom board is green.
The D1 on the top is always red , it didn't blink.
How can I upgrade DM365 software?
Thank you very much!
Best,
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
As you already know, the DM365 can boot either SD card or the NAND flash.
I suggest you try booting from SD card to confirm that the board is working fine.
To upgrade the DM365,
1. Download DLP LightCrafter Firmware & Software Bundle v2.0 from the LightCrafter page - http://www.ti.com/tool/dlplightcrafter
2. Look for DLP3000-C300REFDM365-v4.0 .zip file. The ReadMe instructions should guide you through the upgrade and provide you more details, but here are quick instructions,
•Uncompress DLP3000-C300REFDM365-v4.0
•Open MSDOS command shell with "run as administrator" and change to the directory just uncompressed.
•Format a micro SD card.
•Execute the command:
- For a SD card that is mapped to E: drive, execute the following command to create an SD card that flashes NAND,
lcr_boot_sd.exe dm3xx_sdv3_31.dat E:
•Insert the micro-SD card with this image on LightCrafter
•Set the DIP switch on System board to the side closest to the micro-SD card connector
•Power up the LightCrafter and wait for the test screen with colored bars to appear.
Let me know of your findings.

Divya
Hey Divya:
It seems like it stuck at the booting step.
I download the DLP LightCrafter Firmware & Software Bundle v2.0 for windows.
Then run the setup file, then find DLP3000-C300REFDM365-v4.0 file in C:// program files/ Texas Instruments-DLP/
Then uncompress it , it is a file including three documents 1. dm3xx_nand.dat 2. dm3xx_sd.dat 3. lcr_boot_sd.exe
Then I open MSDOS command shell with "run as administrator" and change to the directory just uncompressed.
Execute the command: lcr_boot_sd.exe dm3xx_sdv.dat I: (because the document name is not dm3xx_sdv3_31, but dm3xx_sd, and the sd card mapped into I:drive)
It showed Image copied to SD card SUCCESS
then I Insert the micro-SD card with this image on LightCrafter
then Set the DIP switch on System board to the side closest to the micro-SD card connector
then Power up the LightCrafter
But it seems stuck at the booting step, the booting bar stopped at around 90% .
What should I do next ? Is this board broken ????
When I first tried to use this LightCraft several months ago, it works well. then I remove part of the light engine and tried again, I broke some pins of the DMD chip, then the LED on the system board became always red, then I bought a new DMD chip and replace the broken one , then the booting screen was looked like the image above , even I tried to boot it by SD card.
So, is this board broken ? What should I do to fix it ? Thank you very much for your help!!!
Best,
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
Sorry for a delayed response. Your DM365 upgrade procedure is right.
Can you please connect a UART cable to J1 on the systems board and provide the console log?
I use tera term as terminal emulator. The serial port configuration should be as follows,
– Bits per second: 115200
– Data Bits: 8
– Parity: None
– Stops Bits: 1
– Flow Control: None
Also, can you please check the rate at which D3 on the driver board is blinking (D3 is beside the power connector).
Regards,
Divya
Hey Divya:
I need to buy the UART cable first I will reply my result in a couple of days.
How to check the rate of D3 blinking? It didn't blink if I see it by my eye, or the frequency is too high to see.
Thanks
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
Can you please provide the version numbers of the software on your device, if you remember?
Does it stay Green when booting?
Regards,
Divya
Hey Divya:
D3 (LED near power) was stay green when booting.
Sorry , I don't remember the version, according to the booting frame, it is V 1.0, but I also tried to use mirco SD to boot it (which was fail ), that software most be the newest version.
Thanks!
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
That's a good sign. The v1.0 on the booting screen is a bootloader version#. It is not related to software on the LightCrafter.
The UART console log should help us find some more information.
Regards,
Divya
Hey Divya:
I connect the UART, but I don't know how to get the console log. I will discribe what I did, could you please tell me what is wrong?
1. Connect the UART(J1) with PC (USB), connnect the power , turn on the device.
2. Run Tera Term, choose Serial
3. then choose setup--> serial port
change the parameter as you said
then what should I do next to get the console log ? Is there any command I need to type?
Thank you very much for your help!
Best,
Mohan
Hi Mohan,
You have to first connect the LightCrafter to PC via USB cable. Now connect the UART cable to PC and to J1 connector on systems board.
Then, set up the tera term. Your settings in the above message look right to me.
Turn on the LightCrafter and you should see the booting log.
Regards,
Divya
Hi Divya:
I connected the USB cable, but nothing happened. Is that mean that there was something wrong with the DM365 chip?
