Automatic brightness control in DLP projector technology

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC6401, LM3530

dear TI

I am currently working  on automatic control of brightness control of projector in dlpc6401 especially how to implement the feature of automatic brightness control i.e according to global brightness ,Suggest some devices that  can be needed to be interfaced  with DLPC6401

Suggest some reading or eval boards for the same

  • Hi Vamsi,

I don't know what you mean by "automatic control of brightness". Is this the same as white point correction with sensor that will automatically lock to a white point you specified?

If yes, we have Application Note regarding to this topic, but this requires you sign NDA.

Please contact frankxu.@ti.com if you are still interested.

  • Hi Frank Xu,

I was referring to ambient light sensing , And I wanted to control the  brightness register ,also its effect on the source information  i.e (the input video signal )(for RGB input:  anyway we may apply the same  change on all the three channels )

Is this brightness controlling some kind you find in LM3530 - Datasheet

    Thanking you

    Vamsi

  • Hi Vamsi,

Thanks for clarification that you refer to as ambient light sensor. DLPC6401 has the similar brightness control as LM3530, but the scale is different. I think LM3540 can operate from 0 to 850 mV (which you can convert to PWM).

DLPC6401 has PWM range from 0 - 255 for RGB LED channels. You have to map from LM3530 PWM to DLPC6401 PWM linearly.
