How does PARKZ work for 3438 and dlpa2005?

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPA2005, DLPC3438

By reading the datasheet of dlpc3438.pdf, dlpc3438 PARKZ signal is connected to DLPA2005's INTZ.

How can DPLA2005 interrupt be used to control PARKZ? Such as how to differentiate Fast Park and normal park, how to meet the timing requirement of PARKZ during power up and power down?

Thanks,

  • Hello User,

Thank you for your interest in our DLP Technology.

Correct the DLPA2005 INTZ is driving the PARKZ pin of the DLPC3438. In case of a fault condition the INTZ signal will be pulled low and a fast shutdown will occur.

The chipset firmware takes care of the necessary timing requirements for PARKZ.

Please note that the fast shutdown should not be used as a normal operation power down. The system should always be power down with the normal shutdown by driving Proj-on low.

    Best regards,

  • Hi, Nadine:

By saying "chipset firmware", do you mean 3438's FW, does DLPA2005 has any FW running?

Can you give more detail about how this interrupt pin INTZ can be used to control 3434's PARKZ? E.g. INTZ falling or rising is triggered by some interrupt condition or proj_on input ? We're going to develop our own board using the chipset, so need to understand how it works.

  • Hello User,

The DLPA2005 has a hardware state machine which takes care of the specific timing requirements.

The INTZ pin will only be driven low in a fault condition such as power-good faults, over-voltage, over-temperature shutdown, and UVLO.  For example a sudden input power removal to protect the DMD and to ensure that the DMD has enough time to park all mirrors.

Please ensure in your new design that INTZ is getting connected to the PARKZ input of the DLPC3438.
