DLPDLCR2010EVM - Lens

Hello. I need help with information regarding the lens on the projector. Is there replacement lenses available based on specifications I can provide? Looking for lenses which can project a clear crisp image when the throw distance is just 1 inch or lower, and project an image of say 2 in*1in dimension (screen dimension where the image will be projected on).. Please let me know. Thanks.

  • Hello Arjun,

To begin, let me provide you a link to a guide to "Geometric Optics for DLP Systems" which may provide valuable information: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/dlpa044/dlpa044.pdf

From the scenario you describe above, it sounds like you are trying to use the 2010EVM to implement a throw ratio of 0.5 by modifying the lens on the optical engine. Based on the optical engine suppliers page (http://www.ti.com/lsds/ti/dlp/video-and-data-display/solutions-services.page), you're probably getting a throw ratio of about 1.4 currently.

As seen in section 8.1 of the above guide on optics, the focal length of your optical engine will impact the throw ratio of the device. However, I would advise that you contact your optical engine's manufacturer to assess the affects of altering your optical engine's lens. If possible, I suggest you seek to use an alternative optical engine whose throw ratio is calibrated to the specifications you desire, as tampering with the optical engine may void your warranty.

    Best Regards,
